GitHub with AI: issues and pull requests visible to the whole team
Tessa brings a repository’s issues and pull requests into Tessera, so non-developers know what’s open and what shipped without learning GitHub.
This connection is in beta: it works, but we are still testing it with real accounts.
Engineering work, invisible to everyone else
At many small startups there’s no Jira or Linear: engineering tasks live in GitHub issues. That’s convenient for developers; for whoever handles customers or the business, it’s a black box.
“Is client X’s bug fixed?” turns into a Slack message that interrupts someone, when the answer was an issue closed yesterday.
How it works with Tessa
- 1
Enter the repository
In Integrations, type “owner/repo” and click Connect.
- 2
Authorise with GitHub
Sign in to GitHub and grant access. Access is stored encrypted and refreshed when it expires.
- 3
Issues and PRs in Tasks
Tessa brings in recent issues and pull requests, open and closed, with number (#381), title, status and link, and matches each to a teammate by GitHub username.
- 4
Kept current by webhook
With GitHub’s webhook active, changes arrive almost instantly; Tessa also re-checks the repository every few minutes.
What you get
- Answers without interruptionsWhoever talks to the customer can see if the issue is open or closed without asking engineering.
- Issues and PRs in one viewWhat’s being built and what’s been merged, next to the rest of the company’s tasks.
- Owners recognisedEach issue shows its assignee, matched from their GitHub username.
- GitHub stays the sourceTessa doesn’t close, label or edit issues: she only mirrors.
Worth knowing
Each connection is one repository, and the most recent issues and pull requests are read. The integration is in beta: built on GitHub’s official API and tested with simulated data, not yet with enough real repositories. If it shows as “Coming soon” in your account, the connection isn’t enabled in Tessera yet.
- Works with public and private repositories you have access to.
- Doesn’t read code: only issues and pull requests.
- Self-hosted GitHub Enterprise Server isn’t supported.
What Tessa reads for each person stays private, your data is stored in the EU and nothing goes out without your approval.
